Who here has run 1/0 guage power wire in a 4th gen Maxima? Is it difficult to run? Or can you easily run it along in the door trim? Is there a space large enough in the firewall to run 1/0 guage from the engine bay to the passenger compartment, or do you have to create a larger hole?
Thanks
Phil

I'm curious about this as well since I am planning to do the same.

Running a 0 gauge is not for the faint of heart. The hole in the firewall needs to be HUGE. I ended up running under the car.

Yeah, a lot of people just run it through the grommet in the fender. I just drilled a hole. Works as well or easier. And makes for fewer curves in the wire. But definitely use a grommet.

If you have an Auto there is plenty of room to drill where the clutch *would* go. Peel off the little tap that covers the bare metal there. If 5spd then there is a spot slightly to the right of the gas pedal. It can be ran down the side of the car with no problems.

Note I have done this many times with Stinger Xpert series 0awg.

It will be for a 5 speed car, so I will follow exactly what you said. Did you hide the wire within the carpet, or underneat the door moulding pieces?
Thanks

if i was you id move the battery to the trunk . it would save you alotof trouble from running the 0 gauge wire.

How would you connect the Battery then? You would still have to use 0awg, so that would be nothing but a big headache.

flat 1/0 power kable from KnuKonceptz
check out www.KnuKonceptz.com for some sweet and inexpansive audio wiring. They make all thier Kable themselves and thier easy to work with. They've got 1/0 wire thats flat, instead of round, its much easier to run under carpet and door moldings.

I just finished running O guage in my 95 se last week. Wasn't that bad, just took me about 2 hours to find a spot and drill a hole in the firewall. Also, it didn't help that the largest drill bit I have was 1/2" so I ended up drilling 2 holes side by side and drilling away the material inbtwn them. Wire was still a b!tch to pull through though (my 0 gauge has some thick *** insulation). As far as running the wire under the carpet and such, its simple, you don't even need any tools. The door sills just pop up, then move the carpet and run the wire in the exsisting channels. As far as getting the wiring in the trunk, the bottom sides of the rear seats lift up just enough to get the wire through existing holes in the back, just gotta push it through blindly with your hand. I'll take some pics later on tonight of where I drilled my hole for my wire in the firewall cause finding a spot where I could actually fit my drill was the hardest part of the install by far.

i must of been one of the lucky ones, i used the hole already drilled towards the center of the fire wall from an alarm, it was small and couldnt get a drill back there but using a dremel to make it bigger wasnt to bad, then from there i just ran it down the center of the car which makes it a lil easier when running speaker wires and such, not having to worry about being next to the power wire, i ran it through the center consol parts down under the seat and then cut a small hole in the carpet and ran it under the carpet, not noticable at all under the carpet other then my own fault for cuting the carpet in a noticable spot under the seat...but again running a 0awg through the hole car is kind of obsessive lol all the shops around here just told me to run 2 4awg wires...

Yes, running 1/0 is quite simple. I did the same thing, with just snapping out my door sills and running it along the side of the car.
