what to get- amp or components
what to get- amp or components
what I currently have is my pioneer6400 hu with eclipse coaxials. My question is what would improve the SQ and sound more- amplifying my current speakers with an amp or buy componenets using hu power? Would a decent pair of amplified coaxials sound as good as an equally quality component non amplified?

It all depends on your budget. I actually had the Eclipse Pointsource coaxs in the back, and had them amplified. They were pretty close to sounding like components, for a cheaper price. Either way if you get components, you'll need an amp anyway. I'd recommend getting an amp, for the coaxs because deck power is not nearly enough to power any mediocre component system, and I think you'd be disappointed.
first, with pioneer, your music excellence will never be achieved.
move to kenwood excelon or alpine with bass engine + or pro.
eclipse coaxials...you'll never be happy.
gut them and put infinity reference 605cs or equivalent.
and put about 80W RMS X 4 components (1000W total 4ch amp)
And a good sub 300+W RMS and you'll be happy.
