Need advice on purchasing system.

I have a 1996 Maxima with the Stock Bose Sound System

First off i already have 2 Orion Cobalt 12s in a ported box for a while now just sitting in my room (about 1 year). I got them for a deal, but i never managed to get the money together to buy an amp/deck. Now im planning to stick with my stock Bose headunit and just get an amp. The 12s are already bridged to one wire connection from inside the box, so all i need is a mono or 2 channel amp. My main problem is that i have gotten a $250CAD gift card for future shop, and im planning on getting my amp there and wiring for around 500$ CAD. My question is what amp should i go with? I basically have a choice between
1) Rockford Fosgate 300S http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...WLBS=fs%2Dweb1
2) Or an MTX T4202: http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...d=&newdeptid=9
3) Or a Kenwood amp: (cheap but i think could still power the 12s) http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...d=&newdeptid=9
I think the 12s are 150RMS each or so. Will any of these amps be enough and more to power them?

I am going to get the wiring done there as well. I have no idea what wiring is good...need suggestions...
I found this kit at future shop: http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...d=&newdeptid=9

Finally how good will the system sound in the end without a deck change? Thanks to whoever replies...

I'm not an expert, but here would be my advise. I like the MTX amp or the Fosgate.

For wiring, I would personally recommend to go another route. That is $80 for 8 gauge. I would personally run 4 guage to those amps. You can buy amp kits off ebay for less than $40. IMO unless you are going for competions I would save the extra money and go that route.

Personally, I'd go with the Fosgate. Stay away from the Kenwood.

The RF amp should be enough to power those subs, assuming they are both 4 ohm and they are wired in parallel in the box then they will both get 150 RMS.

Also, personally, I wouldn't worry about the wiring kit too much, as long as it's the right gauge (and 8 will be enough for that amp). It's tough to screw up wires; what's more important is proper installation.

I'm not sure what to tell you about the head unit. I've heard a few people on the board who left the stock HU in their system and are happy with it. You could just do it and decide what you think. You can always swap the HU at a later time.

Ya i was thinking of the fosgate too. As for the headunit i read in the 4th gen forum that i have to change all the stock bose speakers cause they are incompatible with aftermarket headunits. I also heard that i have to get new wire harnesses. Is this true? Do I have to spend another 4-500 on component speakers if i get a HU?

Oh yeah, you have the Bose. Yeah, that complicates things a little. Well, if you are happy with the current sound and are just looking to add a little boom, then I think you'll be very happy with the direction you are going. You might even have to get a converter to get a signal to that amp you are buying... but I'm not positive. I wish the search function was working! We could find an answer in seconds with search...

Here is what I am planning on and I have already started on it.

1. JBL BP300.1 (Paid aroung $150) Your fosgate choice would be good.
2. Purchase a generic sub box from Ebay (Around $36)
3. Plan on purchasing the AOEM-NIS2 kit from http://www.affsave.com/pac5.htm ($60 shipped) Then I can keep my current Bose
4. 4 Guage Wiring kit from Ebay ($35 shipped)
5. 12" sub (still undecided)

Unless you really want to change your deck, I would just get the AOEM-NIS2 kit and save the extra. You can always upgrade it later and use the same kit. Studman did that and only had to buy a different harness I think.
