Pioneer Amp problems..Owners PLEASE read!
I just recieved an email from Pioneer about potential problems with their amps, figured the owners of these amps that are on here would like to know:
Dear Dealers & Distributors:
We alert you to a potential service issue with Pioneer’s car
amplifiers
(namely, certain units of the following models: GM-X372, GM-X374, GM-X572,
GM-X574, and GM-X972) and inform you of our plans to resolve the situation.
Some of the identified models of amplifiers (which do not have a green dot
by the serial number on the bottom of the product, on the unit carton and
on the master carton) may contain a sub-heatsink component that may permit
short-circuits to occur in the amplifiers and may result in heat and, in
some cases, the appearance of smoke. The amplifier may also become
inoperable. Pioneer is not presently aware of any fire or other safety
hazard caused by this issue.
As a result of this service issue, Pioneer will provide free repair or
replacement, at Pioneer’s option, of the affected amplifiers
(GM-X372,
GM-X374, GM-X572, GM-X574, and GM-X972).
Please discontinue the sale of these products until they can be replaced.
The replacement units will be returned to you with a green sticker above
the serial number on the bottom of the product and on the unit carton. The
master carton will also labeled with a green dot.
For return of your stock (both boxed and demo units), please contact your
Pioneer sales representative immediately. Pioneer will accept returns only
through April 30, 2003.
Consumers who have purchased one of the above-listed models can contact
Pioneer to arrange for free inspection and repair services. Please refer
any of your customers who own one of the above-listed amplifiers to
Pioneer’s toll free customer service number at 1-800-421-1636.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you and your
customers.
Sincerely,
Larry Rougas
