Radio reception w/new HU

I just had a Pioneer DEH-6500 HU installed but the radio reception on it is horrible...it doesn't pickup most stations and on the few that it does pickup, it goes in and out. I had the audio shop dude check it out and he said he coudln't find a problem but guessed that it was either the way the nissan antennae was setup(in the rear window) or the headunit itself. I doubt either is the problem because the heaunit is brand new and the antenna was working fine with the stock headunit. There is a "nissan antenna adapter" installed so I don't know what else the problem could be. is there a stronger antenna or something else i can do?

thanks

Re: Radio reception w/new HU

You have to take the Power antenna wire that is not being used from the wiring harnessand connect it to the System Control wire off the HU. You should have luck with this.

I have a thread that i amswered this question

If u have any other problems feel free to ask

Maxima's have a 2 antenna system from what i hear, the Back antenna is where the signal mostly gets pulled from.

You also may want to get the trip conputer back on your steering wheel. To do that, take the Brown/White wire which comes from the harness that is not being used, and cut it out of the connector and ground with a screw to the frame.]

thanks mike,

the trip computer thing...the audio shop told me i would loose it w/the new HU so i said ok. then i posted on here and was told about grounding the brown and white wire so i took it back yesterday and they took care of it for me. basically if you bring instructions on what to do and show them(audio shop), they will do it but you just have to sign a waiver that if something goes wrong, its not their responsibility.

maxima.org rocks! i'm going to take what u told me to them and see what they can do w/it.

thanks a million

Good deal man,

Screw taking it to a shop, try it yourself, and if you run into problems you can always post it up on the .Org and i am sure someone could answer it for you.

No problem man for the help.
