Finally installed my audio

Ok, here goes some pics:
Install pics

There are some good pics of running the power wire through the firewall of my 2k2 for those that are still wondering how to do it.

Took ALL weekend. And I'm still not done. I will have to go and fix my radio reception (thanks to mikec22 for the info on that fix) and I also will be installing my PAC SWI-X sometime soon; maybe with a new HU too since I don't really like this Panasonic one (but it was free cuz it came out of my old car).

Also I'd like to thank whoever wrote that little how-to on using the factory speakers as brackets that originally appeared on 5thgenmaxima.com; my new woofers would never have cleared the window had I not used that method.

Anyways, here's the setup:
HU: Panasonic CQ-DFX700U
Fronts: A/D/S 236is (6.5" 2-way components)
Rears: Alpine SPS-1729S (6.5" oversized co-axle, fit nicely in factory hole)
Sub: a single JL 12w3v2 dual 4 ohm wired in parallel (for 2 ohms) in a sealed box.
Front Power: Alpine MRV-F340
Rear Power: from HU
Sub Power: Alpine MRD-M300

It looks very sweet.

How did you get the subwoofer to sit flat in the trunk? We have to have one of the worst trunks for installing a subwoofer box. I would love anymore pictures if you have them available. I am going to try to complete mine on Saturday.

The sub is not really flat right now. I still have to decide how to secure the sub box, just kind of floating around right now. I might even build a new box and make it more rectangular so it is more in the back of the trunk instead of in the center. But minimally I will be getting some kind of brackets to bolt it in place.

Why did you decide to face the sub towards the car? Most people recommend facing to the rear. Have you tried the different ways and like that sound the best?

Haven't done that yet. I don't have a grill for it yet, and didn't want to face it to the rear until I put one on. But I do plan on playing with it someday soon. I really just have to sit down with it for an hour and tweak the whole system.

Keep me updated. I would still like to see some pics of the inside of your trunk if you have them.

Your deck looks tight! How much did you get it for?

I got the deck a couple years ago and had it in my old Cavalier. It was about $350 at the local audio shop. I like it, but you can't see it at all during the day. I mean, not even if you put your hand over it to block the sunlight, you still can't see anything. Other than that, it's pretty nice. I think the newer Panasonics have a similar backlighting of the faceplate.
