My trunk rattles like crazy. The back deck does too. I have yet to get any sound deadening, but i woudn't buy dynamat. Get some brown bread or rammat, its cheaper and as good if not better. I don't know how much it will take. Just get a lot, theres nothing wrong with having extra.

You have to unerstand that dynamat and such is not the solution to all the rattling problems. It helps but it will not stop everything. When you determine what exactly is rattling then you can tackle the problem.

well

I got a question reguarding this as well. What do you do about the tire well in a 4th gen. do you just cover the hole thing with sound deadening material including the tire well and the entire rest of the trunk? I know that the door panels definitely need it because those rattle with the stock system. I can imagine how bad that rattle would be with a real sub pumping out 600+ watts.

the whole trunk floor, lid and sides. Don't go over the spare tire, but yes, into the well. i have some random rattles that dynamat can't help, so its time to get mcgyver on it. Also, dynamat is not a cure all...it won't get rid of all rattles.

question

what about do you put sound deading on the actual enclosure under the carpet or what ever its covered with? What did you guys do to level out the surface of the trunk? The surface of my trunk is very warped. Is putting a piecec of MDF custom cut a bad idea?

All the max trunk are uneven, at least as far as i know. I just put a piece of wood in there to level it out.
