Amp Install......... Help Please............
Amp Install......... Help Please............
Hi I want to install my amp myself. I have done my headunit and front and rear speakers so all that is left is my sub and amp. Does anyone know of a site that has pictures of an amp install in a 3rd gen. This is my first time doing an amp install and I just want to see how someone else ran their wires and everything. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thank You.
I want to install the amp but I dont know where to run the ground or power wires. I mean everyone says run from the trunk to the battery through a gromet in one of the wheel wells and stuff like that but actually seeing it is easier to follow than reading how to do it. I know if I see someone elses install I could do it myself. I was hoping that someone had taken pictures of their install so that I could see it being done.
What kind of time frame are you looking at? Email me at hrygeek@***.net and I will take some pics.
Hey thanks a lot I really appreciate your help. I mean I dont really have a time frame I will do it as soon as you can take the pics. When ever you get a chance you can email them to pnnyhrdwy1@aol.com and once again I really appreciate it.

run power wire from battery to trunk....
-trace all the wires going thru fender wall...on driver side..take of the black plastic piece...u will see a group of wires goin thru a gromet...i mean it don't get any simpler...poke a hole an run wire thru...
-run under carpet...
-not necessary to remove rear seat but i'd rather do that cuz more room to work w/...
run ground...
-should be less then 3 ft in length...as short as possible actually...
-find a good part of the frame...and use self tapping screw...or use existing bolts...make sure to scrap all the paint if there is any...
run remote...
-most deck has only one wire for amp remote and power antenna...usually blue or blue/white...if u have both then great cuz one is for power antenna and the other is amp remote...
-run along the same side as power wire...
run rca cords...
-run it the same way as power and remote but on the other side of the car...
-if ur rca cord has 16 gauge or wateva size wire in the middle...common mistake is that it's used for amp remote...i've even seen it advertise on one amp kit as so...but infact u should groud both end...

If he's going to be running all new wiring for the spks in doors (components require wire for both mid and tweet depending on where crossover is mounted) then he might not have enough room to run 8 speaker wires, and 3 rca's in a channel that is 3/4". Every install is different. Using the grommet by the fender will work if not that many wires will be running down the channels. In our case, that was not possible with 8 (16ga stinger) speaker wires(x-overs in trunk), 3 rca's. We came in right below the vacuum booster and made our own grommet so we could run power down the middle (w/rem) and then had clear channels to run everything else down.
