Lanzar is Old Skewl in audio...they have been around for a long time...lots of large subs and all...very popular years ago...pricey as well back then, 15+ yrs ago and also did a lot with DJ/Major audio / concert type setups.

They used to be the hype bout 12 years back. Everyone had their stuff, but their day has passed for sure. I wouldn't go with their stuff, people have passed them up for sure

They used to make really good quality stuff....since then their quality in many of their components have dropped. However, their opti line of amps continue to impress many audio enthusiasts that want a lot of power for cheap.

Opti amps are good bang for the buck. Get something else for the speakes. If I remember correctly, Lanzar is owned by Pyramid.

Somebody is finally up to speed. You guys see the pattern here??? Years and years ago, Lanzar was the stuff to have. Subs hit just as hard as any JL or Orion today. Then Pyramid bought out a bankrupt Lanzar and woo-lah....quality went out the window.

It's a shame too, cause I personally know of a buddy of mine that still has a pair Lanzar free-air 12's that were in a car that was flooded (totally under water to the roof) at a concert here in ATL over 10 yrs ago. Those subs hit awesome back then and still work now even after all that. And that was their free-airs .

I've seen a couple of reviews on the Opti line of amps and they were both favorable. One commented that the amp was real world stable down to 1 ohm, unlike a lot of pretenders who claim to do so. Don't know if they are trying to make a resurgence but you can see a lot of their amps on ebay for cheap, including their high line ones.

matching components

if i change my h/u, will the bose amps be able to keep up with 400-600 watts of bass? i'll probably get a crossover @ 80-100Hz to take the major load off the mids and highs...ive heard the bose amps+speakers= very good with non-bose (*cough*cheap clarion*cough*) h/u's...what do you suggest?

I hear a lot of people tossing out numbers like this about "watts". Trust me when I tell you that if you had 600 real watts worth of bass, it would keep you with a constant headache.

If you are investing in changing the H/U go ahead and change out the amp too. The wimpy bose amp is no match for any aftermarket worth $100. One of the afore mentioned Lanzar Optidrives are good and affordable. Remember, this is one area where most of the time you get what you pay for. Install plays a huge role in SQ too. Crappy cables, bad grounds, and birds nest installs make just about any system sound terrible.

I still own two of their "old school" amps, and they still hit harder than ever. But like everyone else said, I would not recommend going with their new stuff only because you can get more reputable products that have good ratings during actual "bench testing" for about couple $$$ more. I can't say that I have any experience with their new equipment though. Just my opinion.

Just because a company is owned by another doesn't mean they are both crap. I agree that Pyrimid = total crap. Lanzar is middle of the row. The old stuff was great.

Ok here is my $.02
If the subs can truly handle 600W RMS lookin into the JL Audio 500/1, if the sub can handle 600W Peak look into the JL Audio 250/1. You will not be dissapointed. They are class D amps and the cross over and Q point's on this amp is incredable. I have installed the 500/1 and that amp pounds. The only drawback I think about these amps is that it really is not as efficient as a true CLASS D amp should be, they do get a little hot.
