'00 nonbose HU... Need rec' for speaker->line convertor & xover...
I've got a '00 GXE with the factory non-Bose HU. A friend is giving me an Infiniti 10" sub driver and an amp w/line level inputs.
I don't have much money right now. I need to figure out a way to take speaker level going to one of the rear speakers, convert it to line level and stick a crossover in between there and the amp....
Anyone have any rec's on the cheapest way to do this w/o making it sound like crap?

Cheap Solution: PAC SNI-35 ($20). MTX Crossover ($90).
Also, does the amp has a crossover built in? If so, all you need is the line level convertor. Circuit City/Best Buy/A local audio shop will have the convertor.

Good news...
for all who are in the same predicament... i found schematics for making both a line output converter and a number of crossovers from components.
LOC:

Crossovers (and so much more):
http://sound.westhost.com/projects.htm
both projects are considerably cheaper than the commercial equivalent.
i have yet to build the LOC or crossover (the amp and sub are still in my friend's rx7), but i will post a followup once it is done to report on sound quality. i'm hoping it will sound good enough to not necessitate the purchasing of additional commercial equipment.
there is also a plan for an 8-band sub equalizer in there.
