Bose Replacement Checklist? (4th Gen)

Basically, what do I need to do the whole thing right? Adapters, special tools, an EQ. Do I need to replace the speaker lines? The 4th Gen FAQs vaguely mention it "You will have to run new wires for the speakers anyway." is what it says. Does this mean through the doors, or just for a new HU. I asked EQ because I don't know alot about sound quality, but I'm willing to learn and want the best for my car.

Here is what I plan to replace it with:
Pioneer DEH-P7400MP CD/MP3 Player
Pioneer TS-A1767 6-3/4"
Let me know if I should go with something else.

I'm replacing the entire system in my '96 Max, and I want to do it right myself. Otherwise I'll have to succumb paying someone to do it right for me. I read the FAQs, but the only Bose info is for the 2k2. And the Bose info on the 4th Gen FAQs are a little confusing in some areas.
Thanks!

Ditto thisasian's question...I've already replaced the stock HU in my 99SE-L without incident : . Attempted to swap out the speakers this weekend, but had to abandon...speakers didn't fit (at least I know how to remove the entire back seat now ). Please pass the knowledge along....

I've used wires that run from the Bose HU to the Bose amps. You need a continuity tester or an ohm meter. Then you just need to find two wires that short out from the harness behind the deck to two on the amp. I can't remember the colors, or I would just tell you which ones to use. A volt/ohm meter will also help you find a wire to use for constant 12V, ignition 12V, lights(dimmer) 12V, and ground. If you don't know much about how to do this, you can just run wires to the speakers and get a harness to help connect the power wires. Thsi may help you taking the interior apart...
