XBOX as your headunit

I was looking at Redmax's 7" Microvision screen that fits right into where your 2 DIN headunit is and realized what if you used the XBOX as your headunit. As your ONLY headunit. Those single DIN headunits are quite expensive, especially the ones that has MP3 and DVD capabilities. XBOX is only $200, probably going to be marked down to be $150 soon, and with so many mods that are out for XBOX, you can have all your MP3s stored in the XBOX harddrive (which can be upgraded to 100GB or more), maybe store some games as well, and of course play DVD movies. XBOX also comes with a remote so you can use that to control volume, music, whatever.

Now is this possible? Is there some kinda of an adapter that'll hook XBOX to your car stereo? If you have Bose headunit, I guess you'll have to replace your speakers.

It just sounds like a sweet idea, XBOX is everything built in one and very cheap.

Microsoft should come up with CAR version of XBOX, mark it up to $400 or so and make it fit single or double DIN. I know I would buy.

You'll also lose your internal amplifier for your speakers (really hope that you'd get an aftermarket amp though) as well as lose your AM/FM tuning capabilities.

Audio CD does not skip I have tried. Besides I will have my entire MP3 collection, that is about 1000 songs, all stored in the XBOX.

And yes you would have to get new speakers and an amp because you're replacing the BOSE unit, but you have to do that for any headunit change.

You can fit it under the passenger sit, at least that's what I did. You can also get wireless remote which works by radio not infrared so you can control the XBOX without having line of sight.

Now for the radio, you're right, but I don't listen to radio.

My biggest question is: Can XBOX be connected to your entire car sound system???

Thats an interesting idea. Cause with an XBOX you can play movies dvd or movie files such as wmv, avi, mpeg, can view pictures, play songs, and have unlimited amounts of games for free... or at least my xbox can

Size would be a problem. But then you can always open it up and make your own housing for it. If you open up a XBOX its basically a computer. (MB, CPU, HD, DVD-Drive, etc).

Yeah exactly! Plus it's dirt cheap!! Soon to be marked down to $150.

Why not under the passenger seat??

Sounds like a cool idea, but should remain just an idea. More cons than pro's

Actually the XBOX remote doesn't control volume. All the XBOX does is pass the audio signal to your tv, receiver, etc . . . .

No you don't. I had my aftermarket HU using my stock BOSE system for years.

What riddle? There is no riddle. You can use it, but you'd lose: Internal Amp, Volume Control, AM/FM, and not to mention a PITA to load a new CD. You'd be better off plugging it into the aux input of a regular head unit. What else do you want to know?

Thats the same thing I was thinking, but I didn't say anything since he wanted to use the XBOX as an HU and as far as i know the XBOX doesn't offer any AUX options.
