How do you hook up a capacitor?

How do you hook up a capacitor?
I have a 1 farad capacitor. How do I hook it up? Also is thier a way to test it? Thanks

+ Battery -> Fuse -> Capacitor -> Amp

Then ground the capacitor by itself to the chassis.
