double-din display monitor?

Okay, okay, I'm probably NOT going to do this anyway, but I am curious. BTW, I have a 96 Maxima with the Bose sound system.

I want to pull out the double-din Bose head unit, and the slide out tray just below it. Now, it looks like I could install a single-din sized aftermarket head unit in the old slide-out tray slot without too much trouble (perhaps I'm wrong about this?). I could possibly install a navigation/DVD unit in this spot. My concern about this is inserting a CD with the shifter (automatic) in park.

Now, does anyone know of a double-din sized monitor that would fit in the old Bose head-unit slot? I haven't had any luck finding one... I'm guessing that I will have to tear out the brackets holding everything together and customize everything on the dash. That would be a true pain in rear. I'd even have to re-do the entire dash trim work.

Just curious... I don't think my paychecks will support this idea no matter how cheap I can do it! But its cool to think about. Thanks

There's at least one. DV-9600 made by some no name group. DVD/CD/MP3, all in one. Freakin sweet as all getout I think. Nice big screen, looks like factory navi in the 5gs, but does everything you'd want it to do. Someone will have a link, 1200 bones
