Removing Rear Deck

I was wondering if someone could direct me on how to remove the rear deck panel? I need to add some sound deadening material.

TIA

What year max? If it's a 5th gen, then I took some pics of mine when I recently did it: Decklid fix. The only thing I skipped was removing the rear seat, which is easy. There are two pull tabs under the front of the bottom seat, pull them and the bottom comes out. Then there is one bolt holding the side bolsters on, can't miss them. I left the back of the seats on when I did it, but a few extra bolts and you could take them off too to get them out of the way.

Re: Re: Removing Rear Deck

Sorry, this applies to the 5th generation 2003 Maxima. I was wondering if the foam you used was Pink Panther? Please let me know, at your earliest convenience.

Thanks

I just used the foam pads they sell for beds. Go into Wal-mart or some equivalent and look around in the bedsheet/pillow aisles and you'll see it; sometimes it comes in yellow, too. It was $8.

Like I said, it was a little think and made it a PITA to snap the lid back in, so if you can find some thinner foam somewhere, like 1/2" or 3/4", it will make the job easier.

I did this job myself. Check this site out http://zachaltman.hypermart.net/Rear-deck.htm

I have some pics of what I did on my cardomain page

I also ported the rear deck and covered it with a bose grille. I went to Target and got this bed foam that is thinner than most and works the best. You don't want anything too thick because it will make the rear deck stick up. I shoved some stuff under the child safety hooks in the back to hold the deck down. You'll be amazed of how sturdy it is now.
