TVs in visor

Anybody know the process for putting tvs in visor. Do you have to replace the whole visor because of the mirror and lights. Thanks.

First let me start off by saying that I did this on a 2001 Maxima. I did not have to replace the factory visor, because it was deep enough for the visor to fit. Now that being said this was not an easy task to accomplish. Here are some real general steps.....

1) Remove the visor from the car
2) Remove the vanity mirror from the visor
3) Cut the visor until the LCD will fit in the visor
4) Hook up power to the LCD from the vanity mirror power lines
5) Run video to the LCD
6) Put everything back together
7) You're done!

Now let me say that step #5 is by far the most difficult step to accomplish. This took me almost a full day to accomplish. Basically the wires for the power are run in a very small conduit through the visor that is pretty much blocked off at the end. Getting something into that conduit that you can pull the video cable through is a biatch!! You can do it, but it take a lot of time and patience. Unfortunately I did not take any picture of the process, but I can take some picture of the visor if you need more info.

Things to note, I do not know if the 4th gen visors are deep enough for LCD's. Like I said I performed this on a 5th gen. If you have anymore questions, by all means you can ask.

I have a 5th gen max, its a 2002, so Im sure the screens will fit. You're saying I can use the power wires form the lights of the vanity mirror to power the screen, then run the video wires to the screen. What did you use to cut the visor. What size screens do you have? How do you remove the vanity mirror from the visor? Thanks a lot.

That is exactly what I am saying. One thing that you might want to check and see if the LCD takes 12V as its input power. If it does then you are straight!

What did you use to cut the visor.
I used a razor blade and a small hack saw to cut out the plastic of the visor.

What size screens do you have?
I have a 5.6" LCD. This makes it pretty easy to fit in the visor. If you go bigger you might have some problems making it fit.

How do you remove the vanity mirror from the visor?
If you look at the swivel portion of the mirror, then is a small cap that covers a portion of the base. Simply pop that cap off and it exposes 2 screws. Remove the screws and the visor will come down exposing the wires and a connector for the vanity mirror power. Disconnect the connector and the visor is free!

Thanks a lot.
Not a problem!!

Are most screens thin enough to fit or is that a special size? If I could get some nice screens for a decent price I'd love to have them in my visors.

That I'm not really sure about. It is possible that most screens are thin enough, but you will just have to take a look at the specs. The particuliar LCD that I got is this one....

5.6" LCD

The price is pretty good and let me tell you that I have no complaints about my LCD!!

Yea, they'll work, i installed 7 in in both front visors in a 4 gen a few weeks back. I was going to get the visors but i went with the flip down instead. The hard part for me was to make a custom fit because of the sunroof, I had to remount the switches.
