I just installed my new sub, after blowing out my old one a couple of weeks ago, and it's not working. I have a Infinity Kappa Perfect 12.1 hooked up to a Fosgate 500a2 amp. The sub is new, and the amp is the same one I had running my old sub. I've checked the RCA's, the amp is turned on, and everything should be hooked up right. Nothing changed from my old setup except for the sub. It's not doing anything. It's like the sub isn't hooked up or anything. Anyone know why this is happening? Thanks.

The LED is on, that's why this is so confusing. I'm going to check the fuse tomorrow, just can't seem to find it. Anyone know where the fuse on a Fosgate 500a2 is?

can't be the fuse if the indicator light is cool, cuz if the fuse blew then no power would be getting into the amp, thus no power for that lil led and no glow from it.. i say check your sub.. hoook something up to the amp, like a speaker or something. have the volume cranked real low.. check if the rca got pulled out from the back of your deck.. i got my money on your amp.. i thinkyour amp should be cool.

Well, I've already checked the RCA's by plugging them into my other amp for the front stage. The RCA's are fine. I'm about to plug the amp into my friend's system to see if it still works.

I checked that too. I thought that was the case the first time, but then I took the sub out and the wires were in there hooked up ok.

Dude, I used to manage a stereo shop. If your amp's LED is lighting up, then the fuse is fine (fuse should either be 60 or 80 amp).

It is possible for the light to light up with a weak ground wire. Retap your ground wire. Maybe that will help.

E-mail me with any questions.

Do you have an electronic crossover? Sometimes one of tho grounds or the remote wires comes loose on my crossover and all the power lights come on but no sound. Just a thought. Oh and there is no fuse on the 500a2 it is internally regulated. I have the 800a2 it is the same way. What size inline fuse are you running, and what gauge wire?

I just worked on it some more today. I put another amp in there, still didn't work. So it's not the amp itself. I then changed the speaker wire from the amp to the terminal in the box, that didn't work either. So the problem is either the sub, or the wire running from the terminal to the sub. But the sub is brand new, did I get a defective sub? I'm about to grab an old stock speaker, hook it up to the wires in the box and see if that does anything. If that speaker works, guess I'll be returning the sub.

No electronic crossover. Well, I'm running a 4 gauge to the trunk, then it's split to 2 8 gauge wires, one for the MTX and one for the Fosgate. I'm running a 60 amp fuse right now, I told the shop what amps I had and that's the size they said I needed.
