A friend told me I highly need one? Forgot to ask WHY?

If you only have the one amp for your subs you don't need it. A distribution block splits the power wire so that you can run power to more than one powered device in the trunk. The block you need depends on how much total power you need and how many powered devices you have.

Well, I would normally recommend one in any case. Because most people, especially young people will eventually upgrade in 6 - 12 months. It's nice to have a future proof wiring job. But more expensive for the initial install.

 

Another added benifit is that it gives you another fuse to help protect you near your amp. You should have one near your battery, at a distrobution block and in your amp. Please tell me that you are putting in an amp and some loud highs with that 12W7 monster. If so, the distibution Block is a good idea.

Stinger is a good brand so is Pheonix Gold. To me, I would go with one that looks nice and has a decent price. I don't think Those brands will give you much of a difference over a generic distrobution block. If you are big into names, the Stinger is a good one

 

when i had just one amp i still used a distribution block, i just used the other 3 fuse clips as spare fuse holders =D
