I installed a Pioneer DEH-P5500MP on my car last Thursday. Overall I am happy with the purchase. I need to learn the new HU. It has so many settings to choose from.

There isn't a better radio than the Alpine radios. They have the ability to be set up better than anything else. Time correction is what it is all about. XM radio added to it is a must.

I just got a Panasonic CQ-DF903U. I can say it's OK. In comparison, I recently hooked up a Alpine 9807 and a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X659 for friends. I like both of those better.

Same here and I absolutely love mine. It plays MP3's and is XM ready. My subs sound so much better now that they have their own dedicated output instead of that PAC adapter. I would highly recommend this HU and its under $200 on e-Bay.

WaarrEagle, a question for you

My antenna comes up when I am listening to a CD.

Does yours do that too? I'm not sure if it's normal for the HU to that that or I was given an incorrect antenna adapter.

Welcome to the retarded world of Pioneer and other HU manufacturers who are too lazy/cheep to put in an additional wire for the power antenna.

I put my own headunit in and just left the antenna wire disconnected. I will eventually put a switch on the antenna so I can put it up when I want to. Otherwise it will come up anytime the headunit is on.

OK, thanks for clarifying things for me.

Will the life of the antenna motor be reduced since it comes up and down ALOT more often?
