alternator & udp combo

I have a stereo, not a monster stereo but 2 subs and an amp. Would a farad cap help out? The reason i ask is that ive replaced my alt. twice in about 2 1/2 yrs and I think it may be due to the udp. I'd like to add another amp to my mids and highs but am scared of killing another alternator.

What kind of UDP do you have? Also, did you have one of the recalled alternators? Factory alt with factory crank pulley is good for 1500 - 2000 watts RMS music. Of course proper wiring is key to any stereo install. Also what amp are you currently using. And what year maxima?

Your dead alts are more likely the fault of bad wiring or improper belt tensioning. You may want to set up an appointment with an auto electrical expert to check the entire car for bad grounds and other electrical maladies.
