Amp Problems...

Im having problems with my system and I'm hoping maybe someone can help. A few days ago I was going down the road and all of a sudden the speakers powered off of my amp died. The sub also died, and it's powered off of a completed different amp. Today i pulled the back seat down (where I have the speaker amp mounted) and the "protection" light was on. What does that mean? I haven't checked the sub amp. Should the sub be tied in any way into the speaker amp? I'm in Atlanta and it's pretty hot, but the thing is it does the same thing at night too. What do you recommend I do?

it could be overheating by either the weather, or if you have the subs wired in an ohm that the amp can't handle. either case, check all connections and make sure air can circulate around the amp.

Atlanta in August could definitely be heat related. But check the wiring and check the amp temperatures. Even if you have to use the back of the hand test. You may want to relocate the amps so that they can get more circulation.

Usually the "protection light" means it needs a trip back to the repair shop. If the amp didn't come back on in about 15 minutes after it shut down tou probably need some warranty info and take it back to where you go ***.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I took it by the local shop where everything was installed and they fixed it. Turns out that the ground wire had lost contact, which was keeping the amps from running. The fix took all of 5 minutes. Thanks for the help!
