do i need an amp for the crossover with component systems?

do i need an amp for the crossover with component systems? i was planning on just using my aftermarket hu to power my speakers, but when i was looking at crossover wiring instructions i see the amp needs to be hooked up?

you don't "need" an amp. Most people that have components use an amp, but it is not required. The internal amp in your HU should do the trick.

ok i thought i could use my hu. i guess ill have to figure out how to wire it. i want to use component speakers because i wanna replace the tweeters too and think a component package would be the way to go. thanks

the crossover should have six leads...a (+) and a (-) for the tweeter, the midbass/midrange, and for the input(from the amp/hu). It shouldn't be too bad to do.
