6-1/2 to 7" Speaker Debate
Hey, Ok I KNOW '96 I30's w/Bose have 6-3/4 speaker mounts. Does anyone actually have any component sets in their car NOW, I repeat really have in their car NOW that they recommend, and can give help with replacement sizes?(i.e...other than 6.3/4" like 6.5"....or 7")??any input might help

i have Boston Proseries 6.5s, but they came with a adapter ring. You should be able to fit any 6.5", but you may need rings. If the speakers don't come with them, you can buy a set at a local car audio shop.

I have a 6 1/2 and a 4inch down in my door. There is so much free room in there, you can do whatever you want. I put my tweeter in the plastic behind the mirror and it sounds awesome. Most all of the 6 1/2speakers will fit. I almost wish they would stop telling everyone that it is a 6 3/4. It is so easy to build a spacer plate to truly seal off the backside and use a sheet of dynamat, you will have no problems.

Thanx ERTY and TAPOUT...do the speaker companies make the rings or the local shops?...TAP...what did you build the ring out of?...dynamat only?and also, how do you have the two speakers mounted(above, side by side) THANX!!!!
