What Amp should I get to go w/ my Diamond Audio Hex & Coaxials???

I just got Diamond Audio S600s component speakers & Diamond Audio M361I coaxials.

What amp should I get to power these suckers?

p.s. Also I'm thinking of custom installing a pair of 6X9 (Diamond Audio M391I) behind the rear seat(where the bose sub is). You think it'd be worth it....if so so I power these speakers too. If so would I have to get a separate sub or would a 2-channel amp work for all 6 speakers?

Thanks

The HEX component set has a crossover with outputs for tweet, mid and rear fill. You can power the components and rear speakers with a single 2 channel amp. There are hundreds of good amps to choose from.

I would not do the 6X9 install. I would go the route of a sub and amp combo. If you got a decent sized 4 channel you could power the components and rear fill with one pair of channels and bridge the other pair for a sub. Make sure you buy a sub that has a voice coil impedance and configuration that will allow the amp to perform optimally.

jmax, i noticed that you have the koda mid, why didnt you get the component set and where did you get the kodas?? i am very interested.

KPazzo, i would get a great amp to go with those great comps, preferably a ArcAudio, Xtaxt X604, or even a Diamond Audio amp. any of those and you cant go wrong.

The Koda component set did not exist yet when I purchased my Koda's. I prefer and actively crossed over system for flexibility of crossover point and powering speakers. I actually got the Koda's through ampmanaudio, no longer in business. Acoustic Visions is good, www.acoustic-visions.com. Or you can order direct from Adire.

Check out the new JL Audio 450/4 amp. it is 150W Rms to the front, and 75W RMS to the rear. This has all the crossover and level adjustments you could want. Should sound pretty good with the Diamonds...

I have the HEX 6.5 and the DA coaxials and I'm running the PPI 125x2 amp and its sound great. I also have a JL Audio 13w7 sub. but I'm looking into a amp. that can power that beast. I got my amp. from
www.audio-warehouse.com they have the cheapest price for that amp.

Look no where further than Diamond Audio for the amp. Like others have said, scrap the 6x9 idea and go with a dedicated sub/sub amp.

Those Hex components can handle a TON of power. Mine were powered with a Diamond Audio D5 600.2 amp (still for sale!!!) which is rated at 150x2 RMS. A recent magazine tested this amp to 225W RMS x 2 into a 4 ohm load! Let me tell you, your ears will not forgive you for the punishment of this combo

Hope that helps,

Mike

How much you want for your D5 600.2 Amp? I was also looking into getting a D5 600.4 which just came out I was told?

p.s. i'm also thinking of the JL Audio 450/4 amp that TAPOUT mentioned!

The D5 600.4 has been out for quite awhile now. In comparison with the JL and DA...simply put there is none. I had the JLs in my car and they were replaced very quickly. The power supply is great in the mono amps, but the SQ just wasnt there for me.

I would say go with the DA from Mike, I know he took good care of it.

Listen to Don, for he is old and wise.

He has installed MANY of the Diamond Audio 600.2 / Hex component combos...he would not lead you a stray.

Also, you have a private message concerning my amp that is for sale.

Keep me posted,

Mike

i have the D5 600.2 in my current setup. yes, it's loud, yes it'll hurt your ears cause that's how loud it can go and no, i still have yet to distort them. gain, 50%. can i go higher, prolly. will i, for now no...no need. =)

when i get my new toys in how long don, less than 2 weeks? then maybe i'll consider raising the volume levels a notch.

That's funny, if you had gotten the D7 in the first place you would not need a seperate crossover. These things are the **** for system flexibility in a fully active setup.

By the way Corey, bring that alt by soon. I am going to be shipping my stock alt away soon and won't have a direct comparison after that. I finally got ahold of my bud and he would be up for another alt swap. I guess it would be a Saturday a.m. thing as he works normal hours and that's the only day I have enough time in the morning to for sure get it in and tested. When we did myu last swap we found a leaky radiator belt and that slowed us down. May have been the radiator fluid that shorted out the alt, don't know. So we did a radiator flush and alt swap at the same time.
