Tweeters in the A-Pillar

i'm looking to upgrade my system by putting in tweeters in the A-Pillars by the windshield, i have a 99 Black GXE...

what years had the factory tweeters in the pillar and where would you guys recommend i pick up a pair of tan ones?

also, what tweeters would you guys recommend that would fit easily and sound good??

THANKS A LOT!

95-96 Maximas and 96-97 I30s.

I went the other route and added tweeter to the door and used new pillars to cover the old tweeters.

I have tweeter pillars for sale if you're interested.

Ok, let me rephrase. I added the tweeters to the sail panel on the door by the side view mirrors, not actually to the door panel. Sorry about that. There are pics of where I mounted the tweeters on my homepage.

My installer told me the system will sound better with the tweeters in the door panels, for optimal sound quality the midbass and tweeter shouldn't be more than ~18 inches apart.

anyone out there have a write up or pictures about how to install a set of tweeters into the door sail panels by the window/mirrow??

do i need to worry about tweeter depth etc in the panel??

do the tweeters come with crossovers needed for the install?? i have Boston Acoustics running from an amp under my passanger seat in the doors now, how would i go about hooking the tweeters up??

Thanks for all the help guys, this is the first time i've ever worked with tweeters and i'm looking for the best sound set up i can get.

You shouldn't need a writeup for that. It should be really easy.

Pull back the interior sail panel, you can see that there isn't much room for a flush mount tweeter, but there is plent of room for surface mounts and wiring.

I don't know much about your setup, but most tweeters (sold separately) have built in X-overs. If yours have crossovers, just wire them to your door speakers.

Here's another question:

I just bought a set of CDT CL-61s. I plan on surface mounting them on the aforementioned "interior sail panels" (beside the sideview mirrors). Should I mount them "straight" or angle them toward the driver and passenger?

Thanks

Idealy the tweet should be close together yet, nothing is ideal. With a 12db crossover you can easyily run them further apart, not to mention todays speakers are ment to be run way off axis.

That's good to hear. I don't want to get blasted with the tweeter, and I don't want to cut the door panels (resale issues-I'll take the gear out)
