subwoofer amp not working

after hours of messing around with connections, checking connections, playing around with settings and ***** and just looking everything over, i'm stumped. i've got a 4-channel amp pushing my highs and a subwoofer amp (mtx 6500D). it was working before... i took my stereo setup out while installing my nitrous and now i get nothing... almost. it gets power (the red led is always on while the car is). i've hooked other speakers up to the amp and it makes no difference. it normally turns on like the 4-channel amp. however, it's not putting out any sound. only odd thing is that it will occasionally start working fine, and then it will just go silent again. i've checked fuses and everything. only thing is that the red power light is on, so i don't see any reason why it'd be power supply. i've taken the subs out to make sure the wires are secure and aren't coming loose. i've used different speakers. anyways, can anyone gimme some advice on anything that could cause this or is there something i can be missing or forgetting?

also, what's weird is the few times it might start working, i won't be touching anything or messing with anything. it'll then just stop suddenly and not work again for awhile.

also check the main fuse on the power line. i had a similar problem awhile back where my system would shut off and turn back on at random. i check the fuse and the middle prong, the part that's suppose to melt off when it sees excessive current, was cracked in two. replaced the fuse, and the problem was gone.

its wither one of those two, or you need a new amp. How long have you been running the amp for? I have the same one, but it has not been used much at all. I'd like to know when to look out for this problem.
