some ?s about 4th gen speakers/HU
Hey guys, I'm planning on replacing my stock speakers and I have a couple questions before I get into anything. By the way I have a '98 that had a bose system, but the HU was replaced by the used car dealership.
First off, I would like to get the speaker sizes correct... for the front speakers I understand that both 6.5 and 6.75 will fit, please correct me if I'm wrong. For the rear speakers, I have searched and found that they are also either 6.5 or 6.75 and NOT 6x9. Can somebody please confirm the speaker sizes for both front and rear.
Second, like I said, they guys that I bought the car from replaced the stock bose HU with an aftermarket Blaupunkt. The speakers are still stock, so I assume they used an adaptor for the bose speakers. If they did use an adaptor, and I was going to install the new speakers myself, would I be able to use the current wiring even with the adaptor?
Third, how hard is it to put in new wiring, and why is that so important?
Keep in mind that I have no experience with audio installation, the only experience is that I took apart my car once to check the back of the HU and I tried hooking up some subs but that didn't work (broken amp)
Thanks in advance for any help.

- There may NOT be an adapter installed on your stock speaker/non-stock HU set-up; the speakers will still work without one, even with a non-Bose HU (that's what I'm dealing with now)
- The rear speakers are definitely 6.5"; I put some in my 99 this weekend...perfect fit. The front speakers have gotta be at least 6.75"; I tried to put some new ones in the front, but they were 6.5"s, and not nearly big enough.
- As far as wiring, I think most of the people here prefer to install wiring that they know they can count on, rather than rely on that cheap Nissan wiring. Can't tell you how difficult installing it may be...
Good luck...
