Rear speaker is perfect when the car is off but when it's on the cone hits the center console and I get clapping. I switched it with the other rear speaker that's fine and had the same problem, so I know it's the speaker and not the wiring.

So am I right in assuming it's a blown speaker?

 

I really don't understand how the speakers are hitting your rear consoul. If you are trying to say that the speaker cone is hitting the rear deck it is probably becuase you do not have enough space between the speaker and the rear deck or you do not have your speakers "crossed over" correctly. They are trying to produce bass frequency which they were not made to do.

 

It would be helpful to know what year max you have and what kind of system (along with speaker locations) you have.

 

I have a 89 GXE. It's the rear right speaker. I switched it with the other speaker to see if maybe it was the wiring but it's not. The other speaker worked fine in the location and the one that's giving me trouble on one side did it on the other side.

As far as my system it's nothing major, just a little 2 channel 600 watt boss amp.
