Where do I place the crossovers?
RIght now I have the crossovers bolted to a metal beam inside of the door panel. I heard something about distortion when a crossover is bolted to metal. Is this true? Can water get inside the door and damage my crossover....how would you prevent this? Where is the best placement for a crossover for a 4th gen? Also I have the tweeters in the A pillar. Is this too far away from the mids, which is placed in the factory location?

As long as the factory plastic is still in tact, or if you have Dynamatted the door, and the crossover is protected from weather you will be fine. I have never heard of anyone claiming that you will get distortion from bolting the crossover to a metal beam. Now as far as it goes with tweeter placement, the ideal placement for it is within 2 inches from the mid, or farther than 14 inches. Anywhere within that is taboo as far as imaging goes. The only thing I can really recommend is that you run new speaker wire into the door, and place the crossover inside the cabin of the car. Worst case scenario is that you will find some rusting of the screws on the crossover and possibly of the components by leaving it in the door. That will degrade the sound (to a meter) and probably lower the power going to the speakers due to more resistance.
