Bose HU Screw Removal?

I have my dash completely disassembled but cannot remove the screws attached to the Bose HU on the mounting brackets. I have tried WD-40 but the screws don't give. It's as if Nissan never wanted anyone to remove the Bose HU from the brackets. Anyways, I will strip these screws if I keep going this way so I wanted to know if there is any trick to removing these stupid screws. My last resort it to cut them off but I hope it doesn't come to that. Any help would be appreciated.

They are litterally impossible to get out, I was lucky with mine because I used a commercial screw gun with a carbide tip, but on other that I did you do have to drill them out.

I was able to get mine out with an impact driver. The tool looks like a screwdriver, but turns the screw as you push (or pound) it into the screw.

Lots of phillips head screws on motorcycles are just as tough to get out; that's why I have the impact driver - left over from my two wheeler days.

Try tapping them with a hammer to free it up before unscrewing. I got a few out this way, had to drill the last one tho. Good luck.

Impact screw driver works. You could also use those offset screwdriver, since you get more leverage with those. Or maybe one of those screw bit that you can put on a rachet. You should just need more force and it's hard to do with a regular screw driver.

usually one or two good wacks with a screwdriver and hammer does the trick. Make sure you press firmly down as you unscrew them or else youll have stripped heads and will have to drill them out.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Looks like I may be able to get these screws out now. SuperChris, your too funny man. I already had to stop myself a couple of times from almost doing the same thing. Hopefully, I won't need to resort to that. Anyways, wish me luck.

LOL - thinking of the hundreds of times that I had to grit my teeth to not do the same thing to computers (usually somebody else's).

Try using a long screw driver and hammering it down. Then try and tighten the screw in some more (seems like it breaks the glue or whatever nissan uses to keep the screw from moving) Then just unscrew it out

I got them off with a regular screwdriver, just make sure the tip is good and put some muscle into it. I'm not saying that it was easy, but it is possible.

I'm sure the impact driver will work too.

I'm not having much success. The two I dirlled through are completly stippsed and seem to have just been widened. I tihnk I will just bring the bracket to a shop to take out the screws. What kind of shop does this and where can it be done?
