Sub Box Mounting

I confess, I have not done a search for this...
Has anyone considered "Spiking" their sub cabinets similar to the method used in high end home audiophile setups. Quite often you will see the cabinet, or stand if it is a small speaker, "spiked". Supposedly this tightens up the bass response and clarity by giving the cabinet a more positive contact with the floor. In a car I would guess the same effect could be obtained by using long bolts fastened to the trunk floor and threaded into the base of the sub enclosure, raising the cabinet an inch or so off the trunk floor. Thoughts anyone???

I don't think there will be an audible difference between this and simply mounting the sub securely. The primary thing about low frequency response in car is pressure.
