I have two MTX 5000 and a Sony Amp ( 1000 watts I think )
Whebn I crank it up.....it sopund horrible, the bass isnt deep and low....its poppy like....( very hard to explain )It sounds really bad when it hits, The subs are pretty new, and they re not shot.....Is their anything I could do to make it sound better ??? The whole car rattles and vibrates, so that has something to do with it but the subs dont hit low at all !!
Please Help !!!!!

Try adjusting your gain control you may have it too high.
I don't know if there are any other adjustment's you can make on the sony amp see if it has a Low Pass Filter. How do you have your subs hocked up?

Check your crossover settings and your gain control. Your gain control should not be all the way up in fact at about 2/3 or higher it will probably start to distort the sound of the amplifier. If you have a low pass crossover on that amp make sure it's engaged and that it's set to around 80-120 Hz. What is the stereo RMS power rating on your Sony amplifier?

Also are you using the factory stereo headunit or an aftermarket one?

which direction are the subs aiming?
what size enclosure is it?
what size battery cable are you using?
do your headlights dim very much when you crank it up?
are there peak/clipping lights on your amplifier? if there are, do they light up when you have it cranked up that loud?

start there, and I'll see if I can help.

very odd...what happen to me was i put new subs in [sealed box ,subs facing upward, amp bolted on side of box]it sounded weak then i put old subs back in they were weak...so i figure amp has to be level instead of side ways i was wrong..so im upset.. now i put new subs in and now it works im happy...i think it was the connection cuz it was the only thing i touched
