All depends on the equipment my friend...there are only a few ways to accurately measure distortion...pulling a number out of your *** is not one of them...

Look up "post hoc," it happens to be one of the most commonly used logical fallacies.

This is my first sub and amp. Never realized how much work the installation would be, but its done and I'm happy. Came out ok. It's a Infinity 12" ref1250w sub and a Infinity ref7541a amp.

I'd make a comment about how often you change your subs, but after once, its just not funny anymore

I prefer JL Audio subs.

I got 2 12 w1 v2's they are great. I'm not in for the whole lets see who can blow my trunk off. If you want best quality bass & a good bump. JL all the way in my opinion.

Nice pictures guys.

you have much to learn then. there are plenty of other companies for less $$$ that outperform JL in every category

Just build a baffle and mount'em up. Use lots of deadening and make sure to seal the front waves from the back. Any driver can be used IB, it's just a matter of how they will perform in that scenario.

Thanks for the info What does IB mean? Any suggestions on inexpensive drivers that perform well under these conditions? I'm not looking for insanely loud bass, I just want response from any sound frequency, no matter how low or high, so super low frequency response would be key (and clean too).

Infinite Baffle. Inexpensive... something like IDv3's from Image Dynamics would do well for sq and not insane loudness. I really enjoyed the DLS OA8's I had as well as my C-Mass SS82's.

Thanks alot for your help. Hopefully this will materialize fairly soon! I'm big into audio but I have yet to experience a satisfying sound system in any of the cars I've owned. I plan to biamp a set of components for the front and mount some subs IB style . I think it has potential to sound awesome. A problem with my ideal system is that I want to add as little weight as possible. I want to stay away from sound deadening even though I know it would help ALOT. I mean, for the rear deck, I understand it would be pretty much required but I think it would still save weight compared to a box in the trunk (trunk space too). I'm def. gonna look into those subs you mentioned!

This is an older pic but the set up is exactly the same. I've since put in JL's and cleaned up some of the small imperfections. None the less let me know what you think.

pic shows 2 alpines but I added a third to left corner side on floor to power rear doors. Big amp is for 2 jl 8" free air 8IB4 subs in rear deck, Other amp is for plk momo 6.5 comps, 3rd little amp is for alpine dddrive 5.25 comps custom made in rear doors. Plus I have a tiny 4th amp under my center console to power center spk for 5.1. Plus you need the nos bottle too. Spare tire under wood rack that lifts out.

That's an old pic...the "MAXIMA" area w/emblem is gone (thank god, it was just used to help cover a badly measured hole, I have the center amp hole fixed with an added F400 instead of a F300).

What else is there? (2) Kicker comp 12", (2) Alpine MRV-1000, (1) Alpine MRV-F400, (1) Lightning Audio 1.5 Farad cap.
Then in front I have: (2) 1" Alpine dome tweets in the factory holes, (4) Infinity reference 6.5" in factory spots, Alpine CDA-9??? (dang 30yo memory) AiNet/MP3/CD player.
I installed/wired/set everything.
Oh...and an Optima Redtop.
