Anyone put components on rear doors?

Sup guys!

I was thinking of adding another set of components, in the rear doors-

Wondering if any of you guys have done so- Any pics?

My main concern is tweeter placement- where the tweeters could be mounted
for best imaging-

Looking at the door it seems like theres no way without damaging( leaving a permanent mark on door) if I chose to remove it in the future.......

Anyway, I appreciate any info/input
Thanx

Why would you do that? A nice set of coaxils in the back will do the trick.

Maybe you need higher power front components if it doesnt give u the sound your looking for.

The front components I'm satisfied with the output
and it sounds really good - but I want more 5.1 feel
since my rear doors are cut off for the moment

I was in a friends Alty w/ components in the front/rear
and it sounded amazing w/ low volume

and when u turn it up your ears will pop. Acheiving a great sound comes from building a sound stage.

You want your peak power in the front (as a concert) and you want the rears to be fill.

Or a mid in the rear wings. Just a mid, low power. He said low power, I think he meant having the fader set to the front. In which case it would work. But don't bother with the door and don't bother with a tweeter. The door has to many issues.

That sounds great. Hopefully I can get some time to do it. Tomorrow, my wife will be giving birth to our 2nd child, Saturday, I have to go through a walkthrough in our new home, Monday is the walkthrough with Richmond American and a week after that we have to move into the new home. How's that for stress

I agree dont put components in the rear. All you need is 1 set. Anymore and your overdoing it.

I meant rear sail panels, not wings. The plastic panels along the sides next to the rear window. I don't know why auto makers have this obsession with placing mids low and not aiming the drivers properly. Although I guess a tweet high and in the front of the rear doors could give the rear passengers an image of a front sound stage.

I have components in the front and rear in mine. I had them in my '95, and since I bought my 2K SE, I just installed them in there. For the rear, the tweeters are just lying on the rear deck, because I wasn't sure of how the imaging would sound. For right now, they don't sound too bad. I might just buy some co-axials to replace them, though, to see how that sounds. But, sitting up in the front, you can tell sound is coming from the rear (deck), better than the sound from the rear doors.

I completely disagree. Any concert you go to, turn around, you can hear sound coming from everywhere, and like i've said 50,000 times before, it's not that people who have components want "surround sound" like in movies all you have to do is match your levels, and you still have the correct volumes coming from the front, so that you are not MESSING UP YOUR STAGING. I put components in the back because i wanted more than rear fill, and my Eclipse Pointsource speakers couldnt be heard well enough over the sub.

Adam any pics? Where did you place your tweeters?
BTW I hate co-axials- I'd rather go with mids- but I truly want a components set in the rear(like u said best imaging is achieved by adjusting)

I can take pics if you want, but check out my home page. I have pictures of the front doors. I didn't take pictures of the rear, because generally, people can get the idea.

Taking the picture is no big deal, I just havent mastered the ability to put it on the net. They are screwed into the rear doors, with the tweeter "cup" outside of the door, not flush mounted inside the door, I wanted as little damage as possible.

I didnt want to pay for an all new panel for when i remove the equipment, for when I return it to stock, I can live with two small crew holes, plus, it looks just fine.

I have components front and rear in two of my cars. One is a four door that usually has four people in it, so I opted to have the rear sound good as wekk over having a proper soundstage. The other car I sit very far back in, and felt that the only way to fill the hole I was sitting in was with another set of components. It sounds good, but not correct.
