Calling all Alarm Experts!

I just bought an ASC 3000 alarm and remote starter...it came with wiring diagrams and all but I'd like to find some more detailed instructions on general car alarm installation and putting alarms in the max...can any experts recommend some good books or web sites? thanks!

I'm no expert on it, but I'm trying to figure out the installation of my Audiovox aps996 alarm/remote start that I just bought. The site I've found most helpful so far is www.the12volt.com. It'll have a bunch of links to other decent sites too.

There's no really write-ups on alarms. The only thing you can get is a tech tip. That tells you what color wires does what(and the polarity) and where it is located. I don't have the tech tip on hand but I know I can get it. If I remember correctly, I think someone posted it a few months back. Might want to try a search on it

Installing an alarm on a car is not an easy thing to do it takes a good amount of electrical knowledge to do it. But if you are going to attemt it start out by find all the wiring in your car that you need to tap into. Also make sure you test the wiring dont just take someones word for it. To test it you need a voltmeter or something similar. After finding all the wiring in the car prep the alarm for the install. This includes figureing out which wires go where and twisting together any wiring that might go near the same section in the car. For example the siren output and the tach wire. when the alarm is finally preped all you have to do is wire it up. One other thing im not sure what year your maxima is but on the 2K2/3 it requires you to drill into a plug that leads into the doors to control the doorlocks. Be VERY VERY CAREFUL when doing this if you miss you could mess up that plug and loose the controls in the doors. It is fixable but im not sure how mich it would cost.
