Time for a new amp?
Hey. I got 2 1020w infinity reference subs. Peak is at 1000 and RMS is at 250. I'm currently using a profile (600sx i think) amp. I bought this used before because i was on a budget. I've saved up some money and if it's worth it i hope to upgrade to a 250 watts rms amp. The profile one is rated around 100 watts rms. Do you think that it'll be worth it to buy myself a new amp for christmas? If i do buy one, i'm gonna get one that's rated for around 200-250 watts RMS. Is it gonna be noticable different by pushing those subs with a new amp? I'm happy with my setup right now, it sounds decent but i wouldn't mind it hitting harder. Thanks for reading my long post!

If you have two subs why not get an amp that can deliver 500 watts? That way you can use the full thermal limit of hte voice coil. The difference between 100 watts and 250 watts will be a little over 3 dB. The difference between 100 watts and 500 watts will be a little over 6 dB. Of course this leaves the box out of the equation.
I'm not too familiar with ohms and such. Here's the link to the specs of the sub: http://infinityspeakers.com/caraudio/product.aspx?ProdId='1020W'&Ser=REF&Cat=SUB .
I did mean i was gonna get an amp that was about 250 watts x 2 channels. I'm not familiar with ohms but aren't most amps 250 x 2 at 2 ohms? It's also in a sealed box. Thanks
