Immobilizer Bypass

Does the Audiovox aps 996 alarm/remote start require that a key be present in the bypass or not? My installer (who can't get the remote start to work) says the unit "remembers" the key code. Another installer says that system is meant for Fords. He says Nissans need a key inside. Who's wrong? who's right?

I have a 2002 and it does require a bypass module with a spare key being inside and I don't think it matters which alarm but rather which model of car.

Max6spd is correct. You need an imobilizer bypass (something like a dei 555U) The key gets stored in a black box and gets hidden under the dash, so you will lose a key.
