? for you electronic masters...(long)

Hey guys,

I'm trying to hookup some neons... yes neons, I'm doing my entire interior in blacklight, so its not totally

I have been thinking of using some relays to have them automatically come on when I turn my clearance/running lights on. Here's the problem. I don't want them to come on when I hit my alarm to lock/unlock my car because my lights flash. This would obviously activate the relay.

I was pondering the idea of two relays to utilize a type of boolean operation. Ex: If blank is on and blank is off then the neons would be off. If both were on neons would be on. See what I'm getting at?

Well this seemed like a pretty good idea. I was going to use the ignition for the switch on one relay and the clearance to power the second circuit which leads to another relay to switch the power over to the neons. So, theoretically, the neons would only come on if the ignition and clearance lights were on. If either one was off the neons would be off. Correct?

However, (yes theres always a however) I thought this was it until I remembered that I have remote start. So, the neons would be coming on while the engine was trying to start, am I correct? My aftermarket alarm turns the clearance lights on while the car is trying to start.

So, my question is... is there anything in our maxs (4th gen) that only comes on AFTER the car has started and running? I've been going over the schematics in the Haynes manual all afternoon and can't find anything.

Now if anyone has actually read all the way through this, you are probably thinking "just put in a damn switch and turn them on when u want too...you f*cking idiot!!!" But, this was just something I was thinking about for a very custom lighting job.

Not a big deal if it's not possible, but thought I'd bring it up just for a challenge for anyone else.

Thanks for struggling through this thread!

i dont think its possible the only thing that i think turns on after the car is all the way on is hmm nothing lol. but i think what u might be able to do is run a two step relay sort of like what the door locks have, not that i'd know how the hell u do that. good luck.

I am wondering if a diode could be used as a delay. It definitely can delay but may still come on a few seconds after the lights blink. Then of course go back off. I should have been doing delays a few years ago but havn't yet. You could always have a manual switch. Or use the remote turn on relay for the amps and processors.

I had an uncle build me a circuit that stepped down 12V-DC to 3.5V-DC for my motorola 2-way radio. I'll try to take a pic of it for you. I know it uses an IC... ill get the specs/pics for u when I can.

Only need a resister to drop voltage. Works the same way as haveing too small gauge power wire from the battery to the amps.

No, I was simply responding to the above response. Sorry for the confusion.
