ok - here goes nothing

I'm trying to get my plans together on how to setup/install my system. I've already blown the front speakers on my '95 and will be replacing them with 5.? MB Quarts (spares laying around). I have dropped a Sony head unit in already (also a spare laying around the house). Haven't figured out what speakers to drop in the rear deck. I also have a CD changer that will, of course, go in the trunk. I have 2 amps (Alpine 3547 45W x2 (front speakers) and a ADS 625X (rear deck and subwoofer) - no clue what the wattage is but its a big mo fo) that I am planning on using. I am also wanting a decent (inexpensive?) subwoofer (again - trunk).

Basically - I have no idea what the MB Quarts sound like and have no clue what to drop in the rear deck. I have no idea where to mount the amps and I am not crazy about tearing apart my car to get all this stuff in (I know 1-800-wahhhhh.) Do most people mount the amps under the seats or should I slap them in the trunk?

Any suggestions would be great from people who are "in the know" regarding this stuff.

Thanks guys!!!

I would start with some good mids and highs and on wich ones to get will depend on how much you wanna spend. Then I would use a 4 channel amp for the mids and highs and a really good 2 channel for the subs...and finaly for the life of the party I would get some kicker subs....you can't go wrong with them as long as you have a good amp pushing them....

i had mb quart and they were too bright for my taste..especially if you mount them on-axis. some very good speaker brands are focal, diamond audio, kicker, image dynamics and polk audio. dont listen to what anyone says, buy what you think sounds best, not something someone else likes.

The 625x is an old amp. It is rated at 6 x 25, and as a/d/s/ doesn't underrate their amps at all, 25 watts per channel is all you'll get. One channel pair bridged mono will yield a whopping 100 watts for a sub. So if you want to use the 625x (it's a good amp), you should use the first two channel pairs to biamp the front stage and the third channel pair to power the rear fill. Then use the Alpine amp bridged mono to power a 4-ohm 10. Alpine stuff is underrated so you should get at least 150 watts from that amp. If you want more subbage, then get a bigger amp for the subs. And you really should get 6.5s for the front. You will have a huge hole in the frequency range with MB Quart 5.25s. They don't have strong midbass.

In response to your inquiry, MB Quarts are good speakers. They are a little to harsh for my taste. I chose Infinity kappa's inside my car. I love the way they sound. I have a four channel RF Punch 240x4 on them. Which leads me to RF. They really underate their amps. It should be a crime at how they underate them. If you want good bass, don't sell yourself short of, at least 200 watts per sub. I have about 300 going to each sub. Sounds great.

Juss my 4 pennies

fyi-----i have 2 jl 15w6 and a punch 200xi powering them.

I love my MB quarts. They were a little strong in high frequency but with the passive crossover you can reduce the output of the tweeter by a few db, and with my crossover and EQ I was able to get the sound out of them that I wanted, but it did take a while to tweak everything.
JL audio are good subs and you should be able to get them for a decent price. I've had my two 10w3's for about 6 years and they are still running strong. Make sure whatever subs you get, your box is made correctly for those subs.

I would rate that alpine at 100RMS bridged into 4 ohms. I have the 3548 (60X2, in wife's car)and think I had a 3547 before that. Check the alpine site and search for an owners manual or the like.
