I have a 98 max(salvage title) with the BOSE system...Now I know that the bose speakers are 1 ohm and that supposedly using aftermarket speakers wouldnt not be as loud beause of 4x the resistance...BUT today i tried switching one of my front bose speaker for a pioneer 3 way speaker (4ohms) and it worked perfectly...just as loud an the bass was deeper....is this normal for one speaker or was it supposed to be significantly lower in volume?

 

did you have all the other 3 speakers hooked up also?

 

yeh ....the rest of the speakers were bose ....I played all 4 (3 bose + 1 pioneer) at the same time and the pioneer sounded just as loud as the other 3

 

hmm interesting...maybe it's just a conspiracy or something i dunno.. i'm gonna check this out with 2 polk 5 1/4 in the rear deck when i get the time

 

pioneers are pretty sensitive so they dont require too much power to sound good, try replacing all 4, see how it sounds
