$278 for install?
Is 278 a bit high for an installation?
I went in to my local stereo shop to see how much it would cost to install my deck, subwoofer, 4 channel amp, cd changer, and the two front mb quart speakers. At first he wanted $328 because he swore up and down that all maximas came with bose and even though it doesnt say bose it's still a bose and it's a high tech speaker so it's tough to take out. LOL so after spending 5 minutes telling him I don't have bose he finally broke down and lowered it to 278
Should I cancel my appt. and find another place or is this reasonable? The guy was a ******* he reminded me of my old sales manager at Dodge.

hmm head unit should be $50 plus harnesses, speakers are usually $25 plus the speaker price, amp is usually 65-75, sometimes 100, sub is usually not an issue because its just mounting it and wiring it up maybe $20 at most if he doesnt do it for $200 or less go some where else

That is a good idea. I've never installed a stereo before but I'm sure its not that hard. Running amp and changer wires under the carpet looks like a pain.

i installed everything myself as well. i have 2 2 channel alpine amps, 1 1 channel alpine amp. alpine type r components in front with type r coaxials in back. alpine cda-7995 runnin the system. the only difficult and time consuming part is rewiring EVERYTHING! i had bose and was forced to rip out everything, but me and my girlfriend did the wire install. so its not the hard. do it yourself

I could have installed that basslink, but it would have taken me so much more research time, when u had all the wiring at ur finger tips, plus if i did it myself it would have been so boring haha definately learned a few things when we installed it, and if u saw my trunk now, i dont think u'd be ashamed of what its turned into oh and i said i'm glad i CAN install everything myself lol

I told homeboy at the stereo shop that I would only do it for 200 he said no but if I did it for 290 he would throw in a 400watt two channel amp for my sub. I said alright. Its a DHD amp (never heard of that company but it comes with a two year warranty). My system will sound better with two amps though! So **** it!

talk to some friends and see if they will help you. ive done all of that before sept the cd changer. it was all pretty easy. to run the wires all ya need to do is take out the bottom part of the back seat and the door sill, carpet comes right up and jus gotta lay the wires in there!

also, when you've already questioned his integrity, would you really want him working on your car.
personally, i'd do this. i understand you may be nervous, but i'd at least try to do the speakers yourself, and also the headunit. if you pick up the right harness, it isnt' all that hard. should be a matter of plug and play. if at that point, you feel the rest is too much, go somewhere else and have them do your amp and changer. at least you have done something, and lowered the cost of the other stuff being installed.

Yeah, I took a tour of the facility (installation bays out back) and there were like 3 mexicans wearing wife beaters in the blistering cold stealing **** out of a Durango. I said no deal and took off because the place was trashy and it reminded me of Tijuana in the early 90's. So anyway my neighbor said he'll help me if I give him $50 and a 12 pack of Newcastle.
