Monster Cable capacitor...
I have a Monster Cable 1 F Cap. Just want to check on how to hook up. Does it just wire in line with the positive line coming in on one side and out on the other? Or do you hook the Cap up to a positive on one side a nd a negative on the other side where there are 2 wires on both terminals?

Put it right next to your sub amp. Have a pair of cables or on each terminal. One fused before the cap with the proper fuse rating for your sub amp. Run that power wire as short as possible to your battery. Run the other one to a close but good ground. Keep wires between the cap and amp asap, as short as possible. The resistance of wire more than 2 feet long negates the benefit of the cap. To avoid sparks use a resister to charge the cap. When the voltage at the cap is equal to the supply voltage it is fully charged.
This is the short explanation.
I don't think running from negative of cap to ground of amp is a hard and fast rule.

Thanks for the info. My amp is under my seat and I'm going to tie strap the cap to the bottom of the seat and the wire shouldn't be any more than a foot long. But what about the resistor are you talking about? Does it wire in line with the + right before the cap?

My lights are dimming bass hits. I plan on getting a capacitor but I don't know which one. I plan on getting a 1 farad cap. Which ones are good or does it matter- monster cap, audiobahn, rockfords, stinger, sting-pro, and poweramper.

You want one rated for 20 volts and with the lowest ESR you can find. But don't trust anything the manufacturer prints. Most are the same but there are some duds and some companies are less likely to sell a dud based on their profit margin and other factors. I would use one of the older name brands like Monster, RF, Stinger, PG, etc. if that was all I had to go on. I subscribe to magazines and spend time on forums so that I can read independant analysis of products on a regular basis.
