aftermarket h/u & trip computer

I just installed an Alpine head unit and the trip computer button does not work. Does anybody have any idea how to make the computer work with the aftermarket h/u.

thanks a lot

check one of the past posts, but you need to ground one of wires from the harness that plugged into the back of the original head unit. if you have steering wheel controls you can also get them to work again by using a pac swi-x. they are 39.99 at buy.com.

i know this thread is old, but i just got done installing my h/u. i bought the pacswi steering wheel control adapter. i thought i needed to this to make the trip, mpg, temp gauge, etc. to work. so all i have to do is ground the brown wire and all of those functions will work?
