Those familiar with Viper 791XV...Step inside!

I'm a little confused by mine, and my obsessive compulsive nature doesn't help much...

Igor911 has a 791 and his backlight is yellow, mine is red. Also, I have yet to see my pager go out of range of the vehicle. On Friday I decided to really test this, as I thought maybe my school wasn't large enough to go out of signal range, so I drove to my dad's office and he drove me to a doctors appointment 10+ miles away. At the office I looked at the pager and it still would flash Rx!

On Saturday we had a maxima meet and alex from southwestautoworks was there so I decided to ask him about the range and he said something about it working like gps and it will work VERY far away. I searched the manual and online and couldn't find anything about it. What is the deal?! Granted at far distance I cannot start or unlock the car or anything like that, but the Rx still flashes. Confusion people! Thanks!!

Its the TX that has the range of 1/4 mile but the RX always stays blinking for me. I have heard from some ppl here that they get beeps when they get too far away with the RX. Not shure though since my RX has been blinking all the time

I was told that the receiver will beep when out of receiving range.

Are you telling me if someone broke into my car when I'm 10 miles away the pager will beep saying its being broken into?

yea I heard that too, I just edited my message up there when I thought about it more.

Actually I think I might test it out by having someone tap on the car while im somewhere really far and see it it pages me.

The different colors backlights dont mean anythng, it is just when they were produced. As for the light blinking, it is to "see" if it is in range. The remote constantly checks to see if it is in range. There is nothing GPS based on the alarms, and it will not alaert you if you are out of range.

The different collored backlight were put in to tell the difference between security systems, Remote starters and Hybred systems(Security w/Remote start). NO GPS is in the system. The RX or antenna Icon flashes every 4 seconds looking for a coded signal from the vehicle security system if there is a change of state. it is just part ofthe software of the system. The system will work in Ideal conditions up to an exceedign 1/4 of a mile. Since no one I know lives in the mid west with a clear line of sight for a 1//4 of a mile or more the range will be signifigantly less. The more walls, glass, cars, and people in the area will act as an absorber of the RF signal. The most common range to get out of the system is about 1000 ft. to about 1500 ft. If you would like to have basically unlimited range you should look at adding the Viper GPS tracking and control system. It is able to call or e-mail up to three diffrent phone numbers or e-mail addressed if the system is armed and the vehicle is broken into. You can also control the basic functions of the remote starter and the security system. Lock unlock and remote start. It also adds in the features of continious vehicle tracking, Vehicle locator and through a information center stolen vehicle recoverly which is more advanced than LoJack.

The device can be actiated by phone or through the internet through a secure site. You can check it out on www.directed.com
