thinking about buying subs from Best Buy.

the reason for this is because they offer 4 year warranty on amps for 29.99 and 4 year warrany on subs for 19.99
do most people purchase their subs, box, and amp from the internet?
am i doing the right thing?

i got my stuff from best buy. my tens and amp are covered. there are cheaper stores online, but i personally don't like the idea of buying stuff online...unless i know the site is very reputable.

I got my stuff from Best Buy also. One of those thanksgiving day things. I just bought it at the store. I didn't get the warrenty though because they wanted 90$ to protect all my stuff (subs, box, and amp). It just wasn't worth it..

$90?? they said it's $29.99 for the amp (4 years) and $19.99 for subs (4 years)
But perhaps they meant it's $19.99 for ONE sub.

$29.99
19.99
+19.99
...............
yeah.. i guess $90 makes sense with the warranty for the box(i don't know what can go wrong with a box..)

if you pay $100 more for the same sub, and $90 for the warranty, it isnt worth it. my friend bought a type r from CC he paid $200. lets say you buy 2 of those. your paying $490 with the CC warranty, whereas online it would be around $225-250max. trust me, i was very wary about purchasing online, i did my research and it has paid off tremendously. i wouldnt have half the system if i bought it from retail.

CC, BB, and all the other major chain stores make most of their money by selling the warranties. Part of the reson why they dont sell higher end equiptment whcih comes with longer warranties. They wouldnt be able to sell Their own warranties anymore.

screw best buy, buy your stuff online. you can pick out higher quality stuff than what you can get at best buy and the prices will be very good. i bought my stuff from thezeb.com and ikesound.com which are both excellent places to buy from. they dont sell any of the stuff i bought at best buy and if i had bought from a car audio shop it probably would have cost 2 grand when i only paid half that.
