Remote Start for Factory Max.

Well I'm sure there's a post somewhere about this, but I can't search because I'm a poor college student and can't donate right now. But I want to add a Remote Start to my Max. I have a 1997 GXE with the factory alarm and keyless entry. I want to keep the factory alarm and just simply add a remote start. I realize that part of my factory system is that there must be a key in the ignition to start, I found a bypass module at http://www.caraudio-caralarms.com/, that can bypass that problem. But my question still remains, can I add just a remote start to the factory system. And what brand/model can do this? Any help would be great. Thanks in advance. sorry i didn't post this under electronics, was hoping to get more help here.

go here..: www.the12volt.com and all your answers are there. U can make your own remote start unit, but you need some experience.

good luck

There are several different companies that put out remote start and security bypass modules. You may want to go and check out www.directed.com. They put out the largest selection of remote starters int eh US. Most need to be installed by a shop. In fact I recomend that the system be installed by someone who knows what they are doing.

As for the bypass module you may need to give up a key to put in the bypass module. just do a little more research to fully grasp all the costs before doing the work.

I like to have the stuff installed because it comes with a lifetime or limited life time warrente, depending on the product. It is a little peice of mind when dealing with a vehicle that is an Icon.

I personaly have an Clifford G5 (850) system with Intelli-start and Dual smart windows modules. The Renote start function is great, even if I do live in San Diego

You do not need a bypass module at all. The immoblizors are in the '99s and up.
