i just recently bought a 97 maxima gle that came with the BOSE system and ive noticed that the cd player plays my burned cd's but reacts as if the disc is scrathed. I was wondering whether the stereo is not capable of reading them correctly or whether it should and i need to replace the one i have? Thanks for your help.

 

I have a 97 GLE with Bose. My head unit plays cdr's perfectly. Unless they are scratched, or have major fingerprints on them. If your cdr's are in perfect condition it's probably your headunit.

You probably don't want to hear this, but I have a 97 also, and about a month ago, the CD player started reading my burned CDs really badly (skipping once every couple seconds). After a few days it quit playing CDs altogether (just displayed "ERR"). Because of this, and the fact that the tape player thought there was a tape in it, and would autoreverse constantly for the first minute the car was on, I replaced it with an Alpine HU. BOSE replacement HUs are expensive, and even a "repaired" one will cost you $200.

 

I have a 98 SE. The original radio played CDRs fine. I had to replace it due to a volume control problem and the one I got from a 97 SE played them fine also.

 

i was thinking that maybe my lens was dirty or something and was going to buy a lens cleaner but if its the head unit then why bother huh...looks like im in the market for a headunit anyone got one for sale??? lol. Thanxs for your help.
