need input on a mp3 HU

im looking to replace bose system, and first on the list is a new HU. anyone know of any good cd/mp3 units at or around $200? i know pioneer has one and so does JVC, but im not too sure about JVC quality. anyway, any input would help.

i would never get a jvc deck. they are not known for their car audio. their decks are cheap and low quality.

if i had to choose between the two i would get a pioneer.

I just installed my JVC today and it was pretty good considering that I still have my stock speakers in. It really bumps on my non-bose speakers. The remote for it is really small though. The CD HU (KD-SX8350) I have also has a subwoofer controller. It rocks!!!

Alpine CDA-9807 (last year's model) or CDA-9827 (this year's model).

Both can be had online for just over $200.

Alpine has the best MP3 playback IMO...virtually no pause in switching songs (compared to a few seconds for most other decks including Pioneer). In addition, you can search for MP3 tracks while listening to the current track. Bass/treble/sub settings are entirely independent for radio, CD, and MP3s (you can store different settings for each). I have no idea if other decks do this, but I thought this was pretty cool.

i'm told kenwood units have a faster chip to decode mp3 files as opposed to sony or jvc

i have a pioneer 7500mp and i love it - the only thing that disturbs me is the display doesn't autoscroll - i have to manually press the scroll button to get the id3 tag to scroll across. that kinda sucks a little...

I love my Kenwood KDC MP622..so CLEAN sounding..sounds cleaner than most Pioneer units, although the preamp outputs are a slightly lower voltage, so they don't drive a sub amp as well as Pioneer or other units do..but, its not a significant difference (vertually un-noticeable except to the very tuned **** retentive ear, like mine) and the better sound quality more than makes up for any difference..Alpine is usually overpriced, I certainly agree there..I paid $200 shipped on Crutchfield for my Kenwood..they MIGHT still be running the sale..

JVC Arsenal MP3 players comes with (2) 4 volt gold plated preamps and a seperate preamp for the subwoofer with a woofer bass control in the HU. I have the regular CD version Arsenal but since I like it soo much it's gonna get a 12 disk MP3 Cd-Changer.
