Finally Decided to get aftermarket....but now I don't know what to get.

I am tired of the Stock 2k2 Bose system malfunctioning, So I am going aftermarket. I don't really want a "booming" system, I just want a good CD player and quality sounding music. To my understanding it is best to replace the HU and speakers, but I still have a few questions.

Is it necessary to run new wires?

Is there a way to keep the stock bose sub, or should I replace it?

If I need to replace it, can you use the amp that comes with it?

I have an old 8 out of my sisters car that I could use, but I wanted to see if I could use the bose sub first. Also I would like to get some suggestions on good brands of HU and speakers to meet my needs. Thanks

I would check review first and then decide (my choice would be a Pioneer within your budget):

As per BOSE questions check FAQ section. But still here are the links by Studman:

No, it's not necessary, but it may be easier depending on your abilities.

Oh, you could keep it all right, but you'll regret doing so. A properly installed aftermarket sub will sound much better. Unless, of course you are happy with the sound of the Bose sub...in which case keep it.

No.

You said your needs are for a system that doesn't BOOM, just a good CD player and quality sounding music. This really doesn't narrow your choices down. Just about any brand will yield these results for you.
