sub question

how much of a difference do u think this would be? right now i have 2 amp, 1 hooked up to each sub (1 is 1000w the other is 600w) in a bandpass box with 2 12" audiobahn subs. in order to lose some of the weight im switching to 1 12" sub in a ported box made specifically for my sub and im gonna run the 1000w amp on it. seeing how the enclosure is perfect for the sub do u think that it could possibly sound just as good as the 2 in the bandpass? The bandpass box was just some universal box i bought on ebay by the way.

Audiobahn's aren't really known for their sound quality, especially in a pre-fab'd bandpass. If your box is tuned to mid 30's you'll probably lose out a little bit on spl but it will probably sound much better. No way to really know for sure without trying though.

Just so that Im understanding correctly....you have two subs in a single enclosure and a 1000w amp to one and a 600 to the other??

i just installed it and it sounds just about the same as the 2 in the bandpass. the only thing is i get a high pitched "bop" sound on certain notes.

that "pop" might be your amp/sub going into clipping which can damage them so turn the gain down. you might have too much or too little air space in your enclosure.

"Bop" could also be port noise.

Bandpass can vary from the most efficient use of amp power and subwoofer money to the worst sounding. Depends on how well they are designed, and sometimes luck.

When I see info like that in the post I ignore it if it isn't pertinent. In this case he removed one of the amps so the differences between the amps are no longer important.
